UAB Women’s Soccer Announces 2018 Schedule

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Highlighted by nine home games and four contests against 2017 NCAA Tournament participants, head coach Erica Demers has announced the 2018 UAB women's soccer schedule.
The Blazers look to build upon their success from last season after finishing 13-4-3 overall in Demers' first year as head coach.
"Our vision is to play in the NCAA Tournament every year and a schedule like this will prepare us for the postseason," Demers said. "We are excited for the challenge in 2018 and managing high expectations will be important for our team."
Following an exhibition game against Jacksonville State at BBVA Compass Stadium on Aug. 12, the Blazers jump right into the regular season on Aug. 17 by hosting 2017 NCAA Tournament participant South Alabama at home with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
UAB's first three games come against in-state foes as the Blazers follow up South Alabama with a road game at Auburn (Aug. 24) and a home contest against Samford (Aug. 26).
After a home game against Memphis (Aug. 30), the Blazers conclude the non-conference schedule with three-straight road games at Georgia State (Sept. 2), Belmont (Sept. 7) and North Alabama (Sept. 9).
The Conference USA slate begins at home on Sept. 16 with a Sunday contest against Louisiana Tech at 1 p.m. Back-to-back road matches follow at Florida Atlantic (Sept. 23) and at UTEP (Sept. 27).
The Blazers round out the month of September with another marquee matchup as UAB hosts Rice on the 30th. Rice won the 2017 C-USA regular season title and finished the season at 12-4-2 overall.
Another three-game road swing ensues with games at North Texas (Oct. 7), Charlotte (Oct. 11) and Old Dominion (Oct. 14), before returning to Birmingham to conclude the regular season with three-straight home matches against WKU (Oct. 19), Southern Miss (Oct. 21) and Middle Tennessee (Oct. 26).
The Conference USA Tournament will be held at Old Dominion with the first round beginning on Wednesday, Oct. 31.
