BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Do not miss your opportunity to learn from one of the rising coaching stars in college soccer as UAB head women's soccer coach Erica Demers and her staff will host three camps this summer at BBVA Compass Field.
The first of three options is a Girls Soccer Future Prospect Camp, which is July 21 from 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. The camp is $65 and open to girls ages 11-13. It provides an opportunity to explain, demonstrate and teach all aspects of the game and will be intertwined with the Girls Soccer ID Camp which is set for July 21-22.
The Girls Soccer ID Camp is for ages 14-18 and is set to begin at noon on July 21st and conclude at noon on July 22nd. The two-day camp costs $105 and overnight accommodations are not included.
The ID Camp includes competitive games and also key training sessions, along with small-sided groups to enable the highest amount of interaction with coaches and to give individual attention and specific training.
The final opportunity for camp is a Finishing and Goalkeeping Camp for boys and girls ages 12-18. This camp runs July 25-26 (6 p.m. - 9 p.m.) and ranges from $50-75.
The finishing portion of the camp focuses on technical training of ball striking, volleying and bending shots and passes, along with technical training like 1-on-1 attacking decision and creating space with runs.
Goalie training sessions will be focused on all aspects of the game, including shot stopping, catching, positioning and footwork. In addition, players will have the opportunity to compete in a competitive environment where they can out their newly acquired knowledge of the game into a practice situation.
"We want to train as many athletes as possible so they can experience what it takes to play at the Division I level," Demers said. "This also gives us an amazing opportunity to show them all the great things that are happening at UAB Athletics and the entire university as whole."
