BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Blazers smashed four home runs on their way to a 10-4 game three win over UTSA on Senior Day on Sunday afternoon at Mary Bowers and took the series, 2-1, their sixth Conference USA series victory this season.

Down two runs in the home half of the first inning, Natalie Erwin hit a solo home run, her sixth homer of the season, to cut into the UTSA lead. Starting pitcher Claire Blount then roped a double to center field to set up Rachel Rogers' two-run home run that gave UAB the lead, 3-2, after one.

Molli Garcia reached base in the top of the second on a fielding error by the Roadrunners' center fielder and advanced all the way to third base. The Moreno Valley, Calif. native then scored on a wild pitch extending UAB's lead to 4-2.

UAB (22-29-1, 13-7-1 C-USA) continued its scoring onslaught in the third when Erwin hit her second solo home run of the day, her seventh of the season, which was followed up by Analyse Petree going back-to-back with a solo bomb of her own, notching her eighth homer of the season.

The Blazers' pushed two more runs across in the third inning when Haleigh Sisson hit a two-RBI single to left center giving UAB an 8-2 lead.

The Green and Gold rounded out their offensive firepower in the fourth inning by tacking on two more runs. Erwin scored on a fielder's choice from Blount and Rogers singled to right field, driving home Petree from second as UAB took a commanding 10-2 lead.

UTSA (19-27, 7-14) chipped away at the lead with runs in the fifth and sixth, but the Blazers held tight, winning game three 10-4.

Blount (7-12) pitched four innings on Sunday, allowing two runs on three hits in the win. Megan Smith also spent time in the circle, tossing three innings in relief and giving up two runs on four hits while walking four and striking out two.

UAB will finish the year on the road as it travels to take on Jacksonville State on May 2 before closing out the regular season in its final C-USA series at North Texas on May 5-6.
