BOCA RATON, Fla. – A double assist match from Gael Mabiala lifted the UAB men's soccer team to a 2-1 double overtime win at Florida Atlantic on Saturday night.
UAB (5-6-2, 2-3-1) has won three-straight matches and is 4-1-2 in its previous seven contests.
"Tonight was another big win," head coach Mike Getman said. "This was a tough road game against a very good team. I thought we controlled most of the game, but once it went into overtime I was confident we would win. We have been in extra time seven times and our depth and fitness showed tonight. How about Adam Brooker, two last minute winning goals in a row."
Chase Rushing put the Blazers on the board in the 32nd-minute as he headed in a pass from Gael Mabiala and Eder Mora to give UAB a 1-0 lead.
The game remained tied until the 61st-minute when Florida Atlantic netted the equalizer on a feed into the box from the left side.
In the 115th-minute of extra time, Adam Brroker headed in the Golden Goal as he received a cross into the box from Mabiala to give UAB the win.
For Rushing it was his first goal of the season, while Ricourt's marked the first of his career. Mabiala, who assisted on both UAB goals, recorded his first career multi-assist game.
UAB out shot Florida Atlantic 14-11 and won the shots on goal battle 6-4.
UAB returns home on Tuesday when it begins a two-game homestand, beginning with Georgia Southern at 7 p.m.
Fans can receive admission into every home men's soccer, women's soccer, volleyball, women's basketball, baseball and softball game for the 2018-19 season by purchasing a Gold Card. Contact the UAB Ticket Office, (205) 975-UAB1, for more details.
