UAB Looks to Continue Winning Streak Against Georgia Southern

BIRMINGHAM – Winners of three consecutive matches, the UAB men's soccer team puts its winning streak on the line when it welcomes Georgia Southern to BBVA Compass Field on Tuesday night. Kickoff between the Blazers and the Eagles is slated for 7 p.m.
UAB (5-6-2, 2-3-1 C-USA) is coming off a 2-1 double overtime win at Florida Atlantic on Saturday. Adam Brooker netted the golden goal in the 115th minute to lift the Blazers to their second C-USA win of the season.
Brooker was named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 15 after he netted first two goals of the season in consecutive games against App State and at Florida Atlantic.
The Blazers are in the midst of their best stretch in recent history as they are 4-1-2 in the last seven games. After starting the season 1-5, UAB has outscored its opponents 12-5 over its previous seven games.
Georgia Southern comes to Birmingham with a 5-5-1 overall record, but is coming off a 1-0 loss at No. 11 Louisville last Tuesday.
Javier Carbonell has netted 12 of the Eagles' 19 goals this season and has racked up a team-high 26 points. The senior netted four goals against Jacksonville earlier in the season and has earned three Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week honors.
UAB and Georgia Southern are meeting for the fifth time in program history with the Blazers leading the series 3-0-1. The Green and Gold are a perfect 3-0 in Birmingham against the Eagles, including a 2-1 win at BBVA Compass Field last season.
Tuesday night is Tank Top Tuesday at BBVA Compass Field. The first 100 fans will receive a free UAB tanktop at the entrance to the complex.
