UAB to Hold Annual Pro Day on Thursday

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB men's basketball team will put its talents on display in front of multiple scouts on Thursday morning when it hosts its annual NBA Pro Day in Bartow Arena, head coach Robert Ehsan announced on Wednesday.
The closed-door practice is set to begin at 7:30 a.m. and will be attended by scouts from more than 15 NBA organizations.
"Pro Day is always a great experience for our guys," Ehsan said. "Not only does it allow them to showcase their talents in front of NBA Scouts, but it allows us as coaches to see their progress heading into the season. We are excited to be able to welcome scouts from these great NBA organizations on Thursday morning."
The new-look Blazers aim to build off a 20-13 record from the 2017-18 campaign, their third 20-win season in the last four years and the sixth in the past 10.
Sophomore Zack Bryant headlines a group of six returners that includes Lewis Sullivan, Jalen Perry, Makhtar Gueye, Anderson McCoy and Luis Hurtado, while the Blazers welcome in eight newcomers that will look to make an immediate impact.
The Blazers' frontcourt features in some serious size with three players joining the squad at 6-foot-8 or better in Will Butler, Jude Akabueze and Tamell Pearson, while guards Tavin Lovan, graduate transfer Wil Bathurst, Nolan Bertain, Tyreek Scott-Grayson and Joshua Sippial will add depth to the new guard corps.
Fans will have their first chance to see the Blazers in action on Thursday, October 18, when the Green and Gold hosts the Georgia Bulldogs in a charity exhibition game at Bartow Arena as part of the Hoops Season Tipoff Event. All proceeds from the tipoff event will be donated to the American Red Cross. Tickets are on sale for $10 here and are not included in season ticket or mini plan packages.
