UAB Opens C-USA Action on the Road at North Texas

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Playing its first Conference USA game since Nov. 29, 2014, the UAB football team travels to Denton, Texas this Saturday to play West Division foe North Texas. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. and fans can watch the game live on beIN.

NOTES:
- The Blazers bring Conference USA's top rushing offense into Denton. UAB is averaging 254.7 yards on the ground this season which ranks them 16th nationally.
- Leading the rushing attack is quarterback A.J. Erdely who tops C-USA and is tied for fifth nationally with five rushing touchdowns. He has had a rushing touchdown in every game this season, including a career-best three touchdowns at Ball State. Along with his ground game, Erdely has thrown for 422 yards and two touchdowns in his first three games.
- In the backfield, the Blazers boast a three-headed monster with freshman Spencer Brown, redshirt freshman Carlos Stephens and redshirt junior James Noble III. Brown leads the team with 244 rushing yards and is averaging 6.1 yards per carry. Stephens (125 yards) and Noble III (119 yards) both average more than 5.0 yards per carry as well.
- The Blazers have 10 rushing touchdowns this year which is the most in C-USA.
- UAB has scored at least 30 points in all three games this season.
- Defensively, the Blazers have been disruptive in the backfield with 26 tackles for loss for an average of 8.7 per game, which ranks them 10th nationally.
- UAB has three players who rank in the top five in tackles for loss per game in C-USA (No. 2 Tevin Crews - 1.50 TFL/game, No. 3 Anthony Rush -1.33 TFL/game, No. 5 Shaq Jones - 1.17 TFL/game).
- UAB had three interceptions against Coastal Carolina and now has four on the season. The Blazers' four INTs is tied for the most in Conference USA.
- The Blazers are allowing just 151.7 passing yards per game which is 23rd nationally. Overall, UAB ranks 27th in the nation in total defense, allowing 297.5 yards per game.
- UAB leads the all-time series with North Texas 2-0. The first contest was in 1995, while the most recent was in 2014 at Legion Field, which was a 56-21 victory for the Blazers.
- North Texas leads Conference USA in scoring offense (35.0 points per game) and total offense (488.7 yards per game).
Following the game at North Texas, UAB enters its bye week before returning to Legion Field to host Louisiana Tech for Homecoming on Oct. 7 and Middle Tennessee the following week on Oct. 14.
