Women’s Golf Set for Season Opener

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – With six letterwinners returning from a season ago, the UAB women's golf is set to open its 2017-18 season this weekend when it travels to Mobile, Ala., to compete in the USA Intercollegiate. The tournament tees off Saturday Sept. 16 at 8:30 a.m. and runs through Monday with players playing 18 holes each day.
Highlighting the returners is senior Sydney Snodgrass who earned 2017 Third Team All-Conference honors. She paced the Blazers with a 75.4 stroke average and fired a career low 69 on two separate occasions. After a fourth place tie at the C-USA Tournament she was named to the All-Tournament team for the event.
Juliana Sebastian also returns for the Blazers. She was named C-USA Golfer of the Week last year after firing a career 36-hole low 223 at the Amelia Island Collegiate.
The USA Intercollegiate field includes Alabama State, Lamar, Lipscomb, McNeese State, Samford, South Alabama, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Texas-Arlington, Tulane, Troy and Western Kentucky.
The Blazers are paired with Samford and Western Kentucky in the first round. The three teams begin play at 9:40 a.m. off of hole number one.
