ORLANDO, Fla. – The UAB women’s tennis team (7-13) fell to UCF (11-6) in its final road contest of the season, 4-0, at the UCF Tennis Complex on Sunday.
The Blazers led on court three in singles, and were near splitting sets on courts one and two, but it was not enough to complete the comeback.
Despite a hard-fought 7-5 win on court one by Pardis Kianoush and Elaine Simon in doubles play, the Blazers fell on courts two and three, which allowed the Knights to claim a 1-0 lead in the match.
UCF claimed a 2-0 lead in the match as no one competed on court three, due to injury.
Sophie Dodds and Reghan Lynch dropped two-set matches on courts four and five, respectively, allowing the Knights to claim a 4-0 victory.
On courts one, two and three, the Blazers led in all of the second sets, after dropping the first sets.
UAB returns to Birmingham as it faces Memphis for Senior Day on Friday, April 8, for a 1 p.m. contest.
