UAB Drops 4-2 Decision at ULM

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB women’s tennis team dropped a close 4-2 decision to Sun Belt opponent ULM on Friday afternoon.
UAB (3-7) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, thanks to doubles play. The Warhawks earned an edge due to a 6-1 victory on court two. However, back-to-back wins for the Blazers on courts one and three pushed the Blazers past ULM.
Pardis Kianoush and Elaine Simon knotted doubles play at 1-all with a 6-3 decision on court one. Catherine Ragon and Amy Lowther gave the Blazers the come-from-behind win with a 6-4 win on court three.
In singles play, ULM knotted the match at 1-all with a 6-1, 6-1 win on court three over Lowther.
Then, the Warhawks took their first lead of the day, 2-1, with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Ragon on court three. ULM extended its lead to 3-1 with a win on court four over Sophie Dodds.
Pardis Kianoush fought to narrow the gap to 3-2 with a 7-6, 6-1 win on court one; however, a victory on court two over Simon sealed the win for the Warhawks.
Reghan Lynch led ULM’s Ioana Popescu on court five, 7-6, 2-0.
UAB returns to the court on Monday as it hosts UT Martin at the George Ward Tennis Complex.
