BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB women’s tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to UT Martin on Monday at the George Ward Tennis Center.
UAB (3-9) put up a fight in doubles action, but the Skyhawks opened dual-match play with a 3-0 sweep, to earn a 1-0 edge in the contest.
Amy Lowther earned a 6-3, 6-3 win on court six for her first win of the season, knotting the match at 1-all. On court three, Catherine Ragon gave the Blazers their first lead, 2-1, with a 6-1, 6-4 victory.
Reghan Lynch added cushion to the UAB lead at 3-1 with a 6-4, 6-4 win on court five. UT Martin (3-8) responded with three straight wins on courts four, one and two, respectively, to edge the Blazers 4-3.
UAB returns to the courts Friday for a doubleheader matchup with Alabama State and Alabama A&M, beginning at 11 a.m.
