BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB Department of Athletics announced on Tuesday new changes and additions to its concession stands inside Bartow Arena for the final four men’s basketball home games of the season.
In order to make the last month of the regular season as exciting and enjoyable as possible for everyone in attendance, all six concession stands inside the arena (located near the entrances to section 203, 205, 209, 217, 219 and 223) will be open and fully staffed. In addition, directional signage will be posted at each stand to inform fans which lines accept cash only and which take both cash and credit.
Three dedicated beverage station kiosks will also be located throughout the concourse for fans wishing to only purchase drinks. And for those fans that want to make purchases without leaving their seats, beverage and popcorn vendors will be stationed in different sections throughout the arena.
“We have a great appreciation for the tremendous crowds that have enjoyed Blazer basketball over the last few weeks, and we want to do everything we can to ensure our fans have a positive experience while they are our guests at Bartow Arena,” UAB Director of Athletics Mark Ingram said. “The changes we have made to our concessions operations will enable us to serve a greater number of patrons in a more efficient manner, allowing them to return to their seats to cheer on the Blazers.”
UAB (18-4, 8-1), which owns the eight-longest home winning streak in the NCAA at 21, returns to Bartow Arena Thursday at 6 p.m. to face FIU.
The Conference USA Men's and Women's Basketball Championships are set to return to Birmingham for the second consecutive year, marking the third time the Blazers will host the event. The men's tournament, as well as the women's semifinals and championship, will be played at Legacy Arena in downtown Birmingham, while the women's first round and quarterfinal action will take place at UAB's Bartow Arena.
