BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB women's soccer team opens its 2014 home season on Friday against Chattanooga at West Campus Field at 7 p.m. CT.
The Blazers look to snap their five-game losing skid dating back to August 31. UAB dropped a pair of road matches at Alabama, 2-0, and Troy, 2-1, last weekend to fall to 2-5 on the season.
Senior Johanna Liney leads the team in scoring with two goals, while senior Megan Collins, junior Paige Hanks, freshman Rachel Green and sophomores Sarah Morris and Morgan Key-Adams all have found the back of the net once so far this season. Nine different Blazers have tallied points this season.

Gameday Storylines
After starting the year 2-0 for the first time since the 2009 season, UAB has dropped five straight (Duke, Jacksonville, Illinois, Alabama, Troy) and is looking to snap the losing skid.
The Blazers defeated Chattanooga in Birmingham in the two programs’ only meeting back in 1996. UAB came off two losses to down the Mocs, 8-0, on its way to a 12-7-1 record.
UAB enters the weekend ranked 49th in the NCAA in saves. The 5.86 average saves per game is second best in Conference USA, as junior goalkeeper Angelica Jimenez is 52nd nationally and third in C-USA with 41 saves through seven matches.
Twenty different Blazers have seen playing time so far through seven contests, with eight of them recording their first collegiate action. Nine different UAB players have accounted for UAB's 20 points (7 goals, 6 assists) this season. Liney leads the team in scoring with two goals and one assist. Jimenez has turned away 41 shots thus far.
The Series Against Chattanooga
In UAB's 19-year history, the Blazers and Mocs have met only once, dating back to the program’s inaugural season. UAB downed Chattanooga, 8-0, in Birmingham.
