Student-Athlete Of The Week: Johanna Liney

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Senior midfielder Johanna Liney of the women's soccer team was named the UAB Student-Athlete of the Week, as announced on Monday. The Student-Athlete of the Week recognizes student-athletes who excel on and off their respective fields of competition.
Liney has played in every game the past two seasons for the UAB women's soccer team. In the 2014 season opener on Friday, Aug. 22, Liney notched the game-tying goal in the 77th minute at South Alabama. It marked her 13th career goal.
The Marietta, Ga. native is a standout in the classroom, as well. The civil engineering major owns a 3.235 cumulative GPA. She has been named to the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll three times in her career and earned the league's Academic Medal once.
Liney and the women's soccer team are back on the pitch on Friday, Aug. 29 when they take on Davidson. The match is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT in Davidson, N.C.
