UAB Hosts No. 7 Florida State Sunday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB women's soccer team welcomes seventh-ranked Florida State for an Sunday afternoon match at West Campus Field. Game time is set for 1 p.m. CT.
The Blazers (2-2) return home after a 3-2 overtime victory over Belmont in Nashville, Tenn. Friday night. Senior forward Tiffini Turpin scored the golden goal for UAB in the 99th minute. Freshman Mary Catherine Combs netted her first collegiate goal in the first half, before senior Carolyn Polcari found the back of the net early in the second half.
Seventh-ranked Florida State (4-1-0) concluded its three-game home stretch with a 3-1 win over No. 11 Marquette Friday evening, handing the Golden Eagles their first loss of the season and extending its home unbeaten streak to 13 games.
The Blazers and Seminoles have met twice in history. FSU leads the all-time series, 2-0. The last meeting was Sept. 13, 2009 when FSU topped UAB in Tallahasee, Fla. Sunday's match will mark the first time the Blazers meet the Seminoles in Birmingham.
