BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- UAB men's basketball student-athletes Robert Williams, Cameron Moore and Ovie Soko made phone calls to Blazer fans last Thursday night in an effort to help sell season tickets for the upcoming 2011-12 season. The trio of players paired with members of the Blazer Boosters staff for a calling program that gives them a chance to reach out and say thank you in a personal way.
"It is great to have these young men volunteer their time by reaching out to UAB fans in an effort to enhance the home court advantage," said Coleman Barnes, who is the newly-hired Associate AD for Development at UAB. "They understand that the support from our fans provides them an opportunity to play at this level.
"There are a number of great seats available for the upcoming season, and all donations that are required for priority seating will support the student-athlete scholarship fund."
The calling period was from 7-8:30 p.m. CT last Thursday with calls made to previous season ticket holders who had not renewed their tickets for the 2011-12 campaign.
