HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Evelien Strijker picked up wins in both singles and doubles on Sunday, but the UAB women's tennis team lost 5-2 at Southern Miss in its second road match in two days.
Strijker teamed with Paula Alvarez for an 8-2 win at the top doubles spot over Stephanie Dellocono and Vroni van Berlo, but Southern Miss won both of the remaining doubles contests to claim the opening point.

Giorgia Romeo also went three sets but lost in a match tiebreaker to Southern Miss No. 1 player Vroni van Berlo. The Golden Eagles claimed victories at the remaining three singles spots in straight sets.
UAB fell to 3-5 with the loss, while Southern Miss improved to 4-6. The Blazers return to action next weekend with a trip to El Paso, Texas. UAB will play three matches in three days in El Paso, beginning Saturday against Texas-Pan American.
