UAB Women's Tennis Concludes Roberta Alison Fall Classic

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The UAB women's tennis team concluded its weekend at Alabama's Roberta Alison Fall Classic on Saturday with some positive results in each flight.
Four of the five Blazers competing went 1-1 on the day in singles action. Jenny Cape advanced by walkover into the finals of her singles flight before falling 6-3, 6-2 to Samford's Lindsey Mallory.
Giorgia Romeo, Caroline Faught and Rachel Cohen were all in the back draws of their flights after Friday losses, but all three rebounded to win their opening match on Saturday before falling in the consolation finals.
Faught and Cohen each advanced in straight sets before meeting seeded players in their second match of the day. Romeo won her first contest in a match tiebreaker.
Menanteau Moolman started the day in the main draw of her flight before suffering a pair of losses, including a tough three-setter to her flight's top seed, Michelle Elkin of UT Martin.
The Blazers also wrapped up doubles play on Saturday. Both Blazer doubles teams at the tournament closed with a win, including an impressive 8-0 victory for Romeo and Faught over a duo from UT Martin.
The Blazers continue their fall campaign next weekend at Chattanooga's Steve Baras Fall Classic, which gets underway Friday, Oct. 1.
