BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB women's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 67 Tulane indoors Monday at the Samford Tennis Center.
UAB's Evelien Strijker and Giorgia Romeo won 8-1 over Mariam Kurdadze and Emma Levy at No. 1 doubles, but Tulane took the other two doubles matches to claim the first point.
The Green Wave then won the top three singles contests, ending the match. Strijker (No. 1), Paula Alvarez (No. 2) and Romeo (No. 3) each fell in straight sets for UAB. For Romeo, it was her first loss in the past five matches.
The remaining three singles contests were not completed after the team match was decided.
"We had a lot of opportunities that we just couldn't take advantage of," UAB head coach Krissy Hall said. "Tulane took advantage of their opportunities and played smart, so give them credit."
With the loss, UAB dropped to 8-6 this spring, while Tulane improved to 9-8. The Blazers will be back in action twice this weekend in Birmingham, hosting Middle Tennessee on campus Friday at 1 p.m. CT and UTEP at Lakeshore Tennis Center at 10 a.m. CT on Sunday.
