Romeo Wins Again But Blazers Fall To Stetson

DELAND, Fla. -- Giorgia Romeo won her third consecutive match in straight sets, but the UAB women's tennis team lost 5-2 Monday at Stetson.
Romeo defeated Breanna Atkinson 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles for one of the Blazer points. The junior has lost a total of just six games over her past three matches and now owns the team's best singles record this spring at 9-3.
UAB's other point came at No. 6 singles from Jenny Cape, who won 6-3, 6-4 over Jacqueline Faulk.
Menanteau Moolman came the closest to pulling out another point for UAB, falling 10-4 in a match tiebreaker at the No. 4 position. The Blazers lost the remaining three singles spots in straight sets, and Stetson also won all three doubles matches.
UAB dropped to 7-5 on the season with the loss, while Stetson improved to 9-4. The Blazers return to action Saturday at Chattanooga. Match time is slated for 1 p.m. ET (Noon CT).
