Moolman, Alvarez Win B Doubles Consolation At Regional

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Menanteau Moolman and Paula Alvarez teamed together to win the B doubles consolation draw Saturday as the UAB women's tennis team wrapped up play at the USTA/ITA Southern Regional Championships.
The pair defeated the tandem of Renesto and Wenzel from Jacksonville State 8-6 in the semifinals and then pulled out a tight, 9-8 victory over Zachary and Hall from Mississippi State in the consolation final.
On the singles side, UAB's Moolman and Richole Berger suffered straight-set losses in the quarterfinals of the B draw. Berger and Moolman were the lone Blazers still active in the singles draws.
UAB has now concluded the fall portion of its schedule. The Blazers will return to action in January with the Samford Winter Invitational.
