Tiffini Turpin Named To Preseason All-Conference USA Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB women's soccer player Tiffini Turpin has been tabbed as one of 12 members of the Preseason All-Conference USA team, the league office announced Tuesday. The preseason all-conference team was voted on by the league's coaches.
Turpin, a sophomore forward, led UAB offensively a season ago with seven goals and two assists for a total of 16 points. Turpin was named C-USA Co-Freshman of the Year, as well as being honored as a member of the first-team All-C-USA and All-Freshman squad at season's end.
The Vestavia Hills, Ala. native was also recognized regionally in 2008 by being placed on the SoccerBuzz All-Freshman Southeast Region team.
"We are excited for Tiffini and we're very proud of her," said UAB head coach Paul Harbin. "She is an exceptional player and is continuing to work hard to improve her game. Tiffini is a reflection of our team and the caliber of talent that we have at UAB."
UCF led the way with four honorees on the preseason squad, followed by Memphis with three. UTEP had two players selected, while Rice and SMU joined UAB with one honoree.
Memphis' Vendula Strnadova was named the C-USA Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and Nikki Moore of UCF earned the same honor on the defensive side.
