BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB women's soccer team will wrap up its spring season this weekend with a pair of home games at West Campus Field. The Blazers will begin by hosting Belmont on Friday at 7:30 p.m. CT, followed by the annual UAB Alumni Game on Saturday at 1 p.m. Both events are free to the public.
The Blazers have never faced Belmont during the fall regular season and UAB head coach Paul Harbin is looking forward to the opportunity to face the Bruins on Friday.
"We've had a very productive spring and I feel like our players have not only progressed on the field, but as individuals off the field as well," said Harbin.
"We're very excited to play Belmont of Friday night. Lisa Howe has put together an outstanding team that is coming off a conference championship season and an appearance in the 2008 NCAA Tournament. We look forward to a very competitive and tactical match."
The Alumni Game will round out UAB's spring schedule, which was highlighted by a trip to the 2009 Decatur Showcase and three Southeastern Conference opponents, including Vanderbilt, Kentucky and Alabama.
"We're looking forward to the Alumni Game on Saturday," said Harbin. "It's a wonderful opportunity for our current and past players to compete on the field and connect as UAB family. The game always proves to be quite competitive and an exciting and fun way to wrap up the spring season."
