BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB football team worked out inside Wallace Gym Tuesday morning as the Blazers continued their preparations for Saturday's Conference USA game at UTEP.
The team practiced in shifts with the regular offensive units going the first hour, followed by the defense in the next hour.
Head coach Neil Callaway and the Blazers would have preferred to have been able to get outside for Tuesday's practice, but the coach said his team did get some things done as they try to bounce back from last weekend's loss at Marshall.
"It's always good to walk through and recognize formations from a defensive standpoint, the routes and plays," said Callaway. "Same thing offensively, recognize their fronts and blitzes. We got something out of it, but it's not the same as going outside."
Because of the move indoors, the Blazers didn't get any work in on special teams on Tuesday. "The biggest thing was we didn't get to work on special teams at all today, so we'll pick that up as if it was a Tuesday," Callaway said.
Saturday's game will kick off at 1:00 p.m. MT will be carried on the Blazers ISP Sports Network and can be heard in the Birmingham area on flagship station WUHT-FM 107.7 with David Crane (play-by-play) and Jake Arians (color) on the call. The pregame show will begin 90 minutes prior to kickoff.
