UAB Football Hosts 2026 Pro Day

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UAB Football hosted its 2026 Pro Day on Thursday at Legacy Pavilion, with 20 former Blazers showcasing their talents in front of NFL scouts from multiple organizations.
The event featured a full slate of measurements, strength testing and on-field drills, including the 40-yard dash, pro agility shuttle, three-cone drill, vertical and broad jumps, and bench press, followed by position-specific workouts. Representatives from 13 NFL teams were in attendance.
Quarterback Jalen Kitna highlighted the throwing session, displaying arm strength and velocity in front of scouts. Head coach Alex Mortensen noted Kitna's physical tools and continued development. "I thought you could see his power and his velocity," Mortensen said. "He really looks like an NFL quarterback…if someone gives him a chance, I think he'll make the most of it."
Kitna credited Mortensen's impact on his growth as a quarterback. "He's the best at knowing all the ins and outs of the game…that helped me grow my game more than just making the throws," Kitna said. "It's all different facets, and I'm super thankful for that."
Several Blazers posted strong testing numbers, including Isaiah Jacobs, who recorded a 35.5-inch vertical jump, and Jevon Jackson, who turned in a 1.51-second 10-yard split and a 4.5-second 40-yard dash. On the offensive line, JD Morgan led the group with 24 reps on the bench press at 225 pounds.
Mortensen emphasized the importance of Pro Day for both the players and the program's future.
"We want to be a developmental program that gives guys the opportunity to play in the NFL," he said. "Having this relationship with NFL teams is really important to us."
UAB's Pro Day provided draft-eligible student-athletes the opportunity to perform in front of evaluators while continuing to build the program's presence at the next level.
