BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB women's soccer team has added one final scrimmage to its spring schedule. The Blazers will host some of the top youth players from Kenya in a Tuesday scrimmage at West Campus Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
The Kenyan team, which is sponsored by the Kenyan American Soccer Exchange (KASE), will be in the United States to play international friendly matches against college and club teams in Alabama, California, Georgia and Oregon.
"We're thrilled to be involved with Nike and CARE in bringing the KASE match to Birmingham," said UAB head coach Paul Harbin. "This is not only an opportunity to compete against a group of very talented athletes, but also a great chance to experience an important cultural exchange through soccer. We look forward to an exciting afternoon of soccer."
The KASE is a joint CARE-Nike project designed to provide sporting and cultural exchange opportunities for Kenyan and American female soccer players.
