UAB Synchro Finishes Fifth At U.S. Collegiate Nationals

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The UAB synchronized swimming team earned a fifth place finish at the U.S. Collegiate Nationals in Columbus this past weekend with an overall score of 56.5. Junior Margareta Jakovac earned honorary All-America honors for her performance at the meet.
Stanford won the event for the fourth straight year with a score of 94.0, while host Ohio State was second with a mark of 87.0
Jakovac finished sixth in the solo routine, while junior Maryl Grandia, a 2007 All-American, and Jakovac finished sixth in the duet event.
In the trio competition, Grandia and freshmen Shaina Boe and Brittany McCauley earned a seventh place finish.
The Blazers were sixth in the team routine. Competing in the event for UAB were Boe, freshman Stephanie Cardwell, Jakovac, freshman Georgia Luch, McCauley, freshman Michele Rushfeldt, Scatliff and freshman Jami Schwendau.
