BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - After playing on the road on Friday, the UAB women's soccer team returns home to Birmingham to host Mercer on Sunday afternoon. The nonconference game is set to kickoff at 2 p.m. at West Campus Field.
"We are happy to be back at home," said UAB head coach Paul Harbin. "I hope we can find a way to put it all together on Sunday and come away with a victory."
The Blazers played in Nashville, Tenn. this past Friday, where they dropped a 2-0 match to the Southeastern Conference's Vanderbilt Commodores. UAB enters Sunday's contest with a 1-5 overall record, and a 1-1 record on home turf.
The Bears of Mercer University are 0-7 on the season, with their latest loss coming at the hands of Alabama on Friday, 3-0. UAB and Alabama faced off one week ago, with the Blazers grabbing a 1-0 victory over the Crimson Tide in double overtime.
Sunday's game will mark the second meeting between the two schools. The only prior matchup was in 2001, where UAB earned a 1-0 win over Mercer in Macon, Ga.
