UAB Basketball Teams Visit Riverchase Elementary

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- The UAB men's and women's basketball teams participated in Riverchase Elementary School's Field Day Friday. The Blazers ran the basketball station, where they worked with the children on passing drills, ball-handling skills and relays. Over 500 students, ranging in age from kindergarten to fifth grade, participated in the all-day event.
Some of the players on hand were juniors Carmen Guzman and Shimena Moore of the women's team and sophomore Frank Holmes and senior Patrick Hassell of the men's squad.
"We had a great time at Riverchase," said Moore. "Working with the kids was a great experience for us. It's nice to be able to get out and give something back to the community. They give us all such great support during the season, this is the least we can do in return."
