BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB synchronized swimming had three athletes recently named All-Americans after the conclusion of the US Collegiate Nationals. Hallie Todd, Sara Petrov and Morgan Clarke received honors after their stellar performances in the national event that took place on the weekend of March 26 in Palo Alto, Calif.
Todd, a junior from Portland, Ore., was named an All-American after her performance contributed to UAB's fourth place finish in the competition. Todd teamed up with Frances Halloran to take seventh place in the duet portion with a score of 88.000. She then competed with Megan Kelly and Mariana Vigneron in the trio, netting another top ten finish with a score of 87.167, good enough for seventh place overall. She was then a member of the team that put up its best score of the day, tallying a 93.333 mark to take fourth position in the team event.
Petrov, a junior from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, received Honorary All-American Honors for the second year in a row. Petrov's solid efforts lead UAB to its third top five finish nationally in the past three seasons. In the solo event, Petrov took home fourth place, swimming to a score of 90.333. That mark was the highest that a Blazer scored in the solo event, and marked the beginning of a big day from Petrov. She then swam the duet with fellow All-American Morgan Clarke, putting in a 89.667 score to capture sixth place. She was also a member of the team that captured fourth in the event.
Clarke also had a stellar showing at the nationals for the Blazers, competing in several events and recording top ten finishes in all of them. Clarke and Petrov were dynamite in the duet, finishing sixth with a 89.667 score. The junior from Unionville, Ontario, Canada then went on to perform in the team final, helping guide UAB to a 93.333 mark, which was the second highest the Blazers had scored in the team event all season.
