Kennesaw State Blanks Tulane at 2005 Nike Classic

BIRMINGHAM, Ala - The Kennesaw State Fighting Owls defeated the Tulane Green Wave, 2-0, Sunday in the 2005 Nike Classic at West Campus Field.
KSU quickly took the lead in the fourth minute of the game when tournament MVP Pip Meo scored easily on an assist from Jenae Gzehoviak. The Owls continued to control the match when Gzehoviak gave them a 2-0 lead in the 28th minute. Katrina Hirsch was credited with the assist on Gzehoviaks goal.
In the match Tulane out-shot the Owls, 14-to-12 including 9-to-6 in the second half. All-Tournament selection Jill Sharp led the way for the Green Wave after having eight shots.
Senior Jessica Marek posted the shutout for the Owls. She also recorded four saves in 90 minutes of work.
Kennesaw State finished first in the tournament after going undefeated. Tulane placed fourth despite two tough matches.
