Synchronized Swimming Places Second at Tri-Meet

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB synchronized swimming team opened up its 2005 schedule with a second-place finish in a home tri-meet Saturday afternoon at Bell Aquatics Center. The Blazers tallied 72 points, finishing behind Stanford who scored 90 points. Florida placed third in the meet with 36 points.
"We're not quite where we want to be just yet, but we're on our way," said UAB head coach Lisa Riddell. "This was a great start for us."
UAB's team of Morgan Clarke, Frances Halloran, Stephanie Jackson, Stacy Jackson, Megan Kelly, Sara Petrov, Hallie Todd and Amanda Weinstein finished second in the team event with a score of 91.667, just behind Stanford's team score of 93.667.
Petrov also placed second in the solo event with a score of 89.500. Stanford's Katie Rose Norris finished first with a 94.000. Petrov and Clarke recorded a third place score in the duet, while sisters Stephanie and Stacey Jackson came in fourth in the same event.
Clarke, Halloran and Todd teamed up in the trio event and placed third while Stephanie Jackson, Stacey Jackson and Kelly notched a fourth-place finish.
The Blazers return to action next Saturday, Feb. 12 when they host Incarnate Word at 2 p.m. in Bell Aquatics Center.
