UAB Softball Drops Two of Three At Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky.---The UAB softball team concluded its three-game series against Louisville here Wednesday, falling to the Cardinals, 11-2.
The Cardinals (16-14, 8-3 C-USA) swung their bats early as they had a seven-run second inning to take the lead over the Blazers in the final game of a three-game series.
UAB (18-20, 3-9 C-USA) battled back in the third inning when Cliffanie Engram walked and scored when Beth Mullins blasted her fourth home run of the season, giving Louisville the 7-2 lead.
Louisville loaded the bases in the fourth inning when Nicole Sparks singled and Lacy Wood was hit by a pitch. Sara Bausher singled to short left field to load the bases for the Cardinals. Keola Calderon then smashed her first grand slam of the year to give the Cardinals the 11-2 lead.
The Cardinals held off the Blazers for one more inning, securing the 11-2 victory in five innings.
Alexis Kreske took the loss for the Blazers bringing her record to 0-2 on the season.
UAB will be back in action on April 5 in doubleheader action starting at 1 p.m. as it plays host to East Carolina and April 6 as it concludes the three-game series, starting at 12 p.m.
