Synchronized Swimming Team Takes Second At UAB Tri-Meet

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB synchronized swimming team finished second at the UAB Tri-Meet held at Bell Aquatics Center Saturday afternoon on the UAB campus. Second-ranked Stanford won the meet, posting an overall score of 84. UAB had a total score of 80 and Arizona finished with a total of 62.
Senior Bogdana Zareva took the top spot in the solo event, scoring an 88.833. She also teamed with junior Amanda Haeuser for a second place finish in the duet event with a score of 87.167.
The UAB team of Zareva, Haeuser, Luna Aguilu, Kelli Dickerson, Stephanie Jackson, Stacey Jackson, Stacy Leiker and Kara Morgan grabbed a second-place finish in the team routine, scoring an 89.833.
Leiker, Stephanie Jackson and Stacey Jackson took second in the trio event with a score of 86.000.
"I thought the team did a fantastic job today," said UAB head coach Lisa Riddell. "I am really pleased with the way the team has come along."
Stanford took the top spot in the team routine and the duet and trio events.
UAB next travels to Keuka Park, N.Y. to take on Keuka College Saturday in a dual meet.
