Men's Basketball Ready To Face The Arkansas Angels

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB men's basketball team is set to play its final exhibition game of the preseason when the Blazers play host to the Arkansas Angels on Monday, Nov. 17. Tip off is slated for 7:30 p.m. in Bartow Arena.
The Arkansas Angels have played two exhibition games this season. The Angels opened their exhibition season with an 84-77 win over Southern Arkansas. The Angels then fell to Arkansas-Little Rock, 72-62, on Saturday, Nov. 8. Kenneth Reynolds led the Angels with 17 points on the night.
Angel guard K.J. Lawrence should be familiar to UAB basketball fans. He was a 2003 graduate of Louisiana-Lafayette played against UAB in the opening round of the NIT last year. Lawrence started at point guard for the Ragin Cajuns and accounted for three points, five assists and one rebound in 28 minutes of action.
Last time out, the Blazers defeated VASDA USA, 92-67, in the lone exhibition game of the season thus far. UAB had five players reach double figures in scoring, led by Donell Taylor's 14 points. Senior Sidney Ball had a game-high nine boards, while Taylor and Carldell Johnson each had five assists. Gabe Kennedy also had four blocks and Mo Finley had a game-high five steals on the evening.
This game is the final exhibition game of the season for UAB. The Blazers will open the 2003-04 regular season on Monday, Nov. 24, when they battle Georgia Southern (7:30 p.m.) in Bartow Arena.
