Women's Soccer To Host UAB Nike Classic

The UAB women's soccer team (1-2-1) hosts the UAB Nike Classic starting Friday, September 13th at the West Campus field. The Blazers welcome three teams - UMass, #9 Michigan and Georgia. At 5 p.m., Massachusetts faces off with #9 Michigan followed by Georgia versus the Blazers at 7 p.m.
The Blazers open play against Georgia, who enters the tournament with a 1-3 record. In their last game, the Bulldogs dropped a double-overtime decision to Connecticut at home. Georgia is led by sophomore Tricia McKee, who has four goals and a team-leading eight points.
UAB then faces UMass on Sunday, September 15, at 2 p.m. The Minutewomen come into the tournament with a 0-3 record. Most recently, Massachusetts lost to Boston University, 3-2. The Minutewomen are led by sophomore Erica Wideberg, who has one goal on nine shots.
Also competing in the tournament will be #9 Michigan. The Wolverines (4-0) have outscored their opponents 12-3 this season. Michigan is led by freshman Therese Heaton, who has three goals on seven shots.
Sunday's schedule includes matches Georgia versus Michigan at noon, followed by UAB against UMass at 2 p.m.
