Women's Soccer Plays in Spring Challenge

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The UAB women's soccer team tied the U.S. Soccer Federation South Region Team 0-0 and defeated Tulsa 2-1 at the Germantown Fury College Challenge held at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex in Memphis, Tenn.
UAB played the U.S. Soccer Federation South Region team in the first game, holding them to a scoreless tie. Blazer keepers Lisa Nowoslawski (Melbourne, Fla.) and Janet Lemke (Marietta, Ga.) shared the shutout.
In the second game, the Blazers captured a 2-1 win over Tulsa. UAB's Tara Kidwell (Leesburg, Va.) scored the first goal, with assists coming from Jenny Rynders (Marietta, Ga.) and Briana McCarty (Lawrenceville, Ga.). The Blazers winning goal came from Oak Mountain High School product Amy Disko (Birmingham, Ala.). The goal was unassisted.
Tulsa's only goal came late in the game on a penalty kick against Nowoslawski.
