Synchronized Swimming Tops Arizona 114-96.

TUCSON, Ariz. - The UAB synchronized swimming team defeated the University of Arizona 114-96 in a duel meet held in Tucson. The Blazers took first place in five out of the six events.
"I am excited about the swims we had," said Head Coach Amy O'Donnell. "We looked very strong. This was a good start up meet for us and it will help us prepare for Ohio State."
UAB grabbed the top two spots in the team events. Luna Aguilu, Jessica Brown, Amanda Haeuser, Bogdana Zareva, Stephanie Jackson, Stacey Jackson, Kelli Dickerson and Jennifer Holmquist took first place with a score of 86.133 and Kristen Kramer, Hannah Freer, Erica Levine, Kara Morgan, Moraine Ruddick and Sarah Pikal finished second, scoring an 82.833.
Zareva took the top spot in the solo routine with a score of 88.333. She also finished first in the technical element figures, posting a score of 79. The Blazers owned the top four spots of the technical element figures as Brown had a second place finish (77.223) and Morgan and Holmquist tied for third (77.110).
The Jackson sisters placed first in the duet routines with a score of 84.800.
The trio routines saw Brown, Haeuser and Zareva grab the top spot, scoring an 84.600 and Aguilu, Dickerson and Holmquist finished second with an 83.133.
Ruddick took third in the B figures with a 71.684 and Kramer finished fifth with a 70.735.
UAB returns home to Bell Aquatics Center Saturday to take on Ohio State Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free.
