LINCOLN, Neb. - No. 5-ranked Nebraska rallied with both of its goals in the opening half to record a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over UAB in women's soccer action here Sunday night.
Blazer freshman Tara Kidwell (Leesburg, Va.), who scored the Blazers' lone goal in Friday's season-opening 2-1 loss at Creighton, got UAB's lone goal against the Huskers by putting the visitors up early. Kidwell drew first blood in the contest by scoring unassisted at the 7:17 mark.
The Huskers (2-0), though, scored just over three minutes later on a Meghan Anderson blast, followed by a Danica Carey game-winning goal at the 19:54 mark.
UAB junior keeper Lisa Nowoslawski (Melbourne, Fla.) did record 12 saves as the Huskers outshot the Blazers 45-4 in the match.
The Blazers (0-2) return to action Friday as they open the home portion of their 2001 schedule. UAB will take on Ole Miss in the second game of the UAB Nike Classic. Game time is 7 p.m. The opening match will feature Mississippi State and TCU at 5 p.m.
