Women's Soccer Drops Exhibition Match To Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The UAB women's soccer team opened up it's season with a 1-0 loss in an exhibition match against the Crimson Tide on Friday night.
The only goal of the game came from the Tide's 10th corner kick of the night as Danielle Watson hit Katie Holtzapfel to knock in the game-winner at the 63:45 mark.
Goalkeeper Lisa Nowoslawski (Melbourne, Fla..) made five saves on the night, while midfielders Jennifer Calalang (Orlando, Fla.) and Jenny Rynders (Marietta, Ga.) each had two shots for the Blazers.
The Tide outscored the Blazers 12-9, and held a distinct advantage in corner kicks with 12 to UAB's three.
The Blazers open the regular season in Omaha, Neb. against Creighton Friday, August 31st at 7:00 p.m.
