CLEARWATER, Fla. - UAB starter Kerri Foster pitched a complete-game shutout as the sixth-seeded Blazers (16-15) defeated no. 12 seed Colgate (8-7) 2-0 Saturday as championship round play began at the USF Clearwater Parks & Recreation Tournament.
Foster (8-7) pitched seven complete innings, allowing no runs on three hits, with one walk and five strikeouts.
UAB scored both of its runs in the bottom of the third inning as right fielder Cliffanie Engram and catcher Amanda Ellis both had RBIs.
Colgate reliever Elena Isaac (2-2) was the losing pitcher, allowing both UAB runs on five hits.?
UAB was scheduled to take on no. one seed and tournament host South Florida at 4:00 pm EST Saturday.
