Paula Alvarez is in her first year as a student assistant with the UAB women[apos]s tennis team. A former player for the Blazers, Alvarez finished her career with an overall singles record of 44-56 (32-41 in dual matches) and an overall doubles mark of 42-46 (29-38 in dual matches). She played all of her singles matches during her career at one of the top three positions and finished 17th on UAB[apos]s all-time list for dual-match singles victories (32). Alvarez was highly successful as a junior player in Spain and trained at the High Performance Sporting Centre of Galicia for coach Marco Antonio Casal. She finished in the top eight of the Marca Master National Under-16 Tournament and reached the semifinals of the Galician Regional Senior Championships.
