Former UAB player and volunteer assistant coach Erica Sisson joined the UAB coaching staff in the summer of 2014 as an assistant under head coach Marla Townsend.
She rejoined the Blazers in Birmingham following a one-year stint at Ball State, where she served as an assistant coach under Tyra Perry. While with the Cardinals, she helped the program to a 2014 Mid-American Conference Regular Season Championship, helping guide Ball State to a 33-19 record.
While with UAB as a volunteer assistant in 2013, Sisson was part of the NFCA Mideast Coaching Staff of the Year and helped guide UAB to its first-ever berth in the NCAA Super Regionals. She assisted with hitting and infield development and also served as the catching coach for the Blazers.
UAB also claimed its first Conference USA Regular Season Championship during Sisson's coaching stint in 2013.
As a four-year student-athlete at UAB, Sisson played a key role in advancing the team to three consecutive NCAA Tournament berths. Over her career, she recorded 131 starts in 147 appearances with primary roles at catcher and first base.
She was also a four-time Conference USA Honor Roll honoree, a Conference USA Academic Medal Recipient and a 2008-09 NFCA Academic All-American.
