MONTGOMERY – UAB Baseball dropped the midweek contest to South Alabama by a score of 11-1 in eight innings. The Jaguars outhit the Blazers, 14-6.

South Alabama got on the board first and cashed in a leadoff triple by Brennon Wright. Paxton Bigby drove in Wright on an RBI single to put USA up, 1-0.

The Jaguars added to their lead in the bottom of the second after the leadoff man reached for the second straight inning. After a leadoff double and a sac bunt, Wright sent home Rett Johnson on an RBI groundout to put South Alabama up, 2-0.

The Blazers strike back in the top half of the third. Baylor Roberts led off the inning with a bunt single and stood on second after a stolen base. With one out, Alex Dupuy extended his hit streak to eight games with an RBI double to score Roberts to cut the USA lead to 2-1.

The Jaguars put up a crooked number in their half of the fifth inning. After back-to-back singles and a wild pitch, both Jags scored on a Blazer error to inflate their lead to 4-1. USA would load the bases later in the inning. Rett Johnson ripped a ground rule double to center which would plate two more runs and put South Alabama up, 6-1.

The first three Jaguar hitters reached safely in the bottom of the eighth. South Alabama got its seventh run of the night as Marc Stephens reached on a fielder's choice to bring home Ethan Melton. The next batter, Stewart Puckett singled to right field to score Brennon Wright which put USA up, 8-1. After a bases loaded walk to add to the South Alabama lead, Blake Guerin singled up the middle to send home the winning runs to give the Jaguars the 11-1, eight inning victory.

USA got a stellar start from Hayden O'Dell. The senior southpaw struck out eight across five innings en route to his first win of the season. Three more South Alabama arms shut down the Blazers offense as the Jaguars took the midweek matchup.

NOTES
- Alex Dupuy extended his hit streak to eight games and also picked up his fourth-straight multi-hit game. Dupuy is 10-for-20 (.500) in his last five games. He also set his D1 career-high with two doubles.

- Justin Hicks set his career-high with six strikeouts.

- Brady Waugh increased his on-base streak to six games.

- Baylor Roberts now has a hit in each of his last three games.
