Men’s Soccer Dominates Missouri State at PNC Field

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The UAB men's soccer team put together its most complete performance of the season Saturday night, cruising past Missouri State 4–0 at PNC Field.
Alan Melendez opened the scoring in the 11th minute off a setup by Mathias Loeve Groth before Frederik Danslet doubled the lead just five minutes later with an unassisted strike.
Humphrey Doh added one of the best strikes UAB has seen in the 27th minute, giving UAB a commanding 3–0 lead at halftime. His strike was from 35 yards out and hit the crossbar bouncing down and into the goal.
In the second half, Missouri State pushed forward, outshooting UAB 15–4 and finishing with a 21–8 advantage overall. The Blazers goalkeeper Tom Mabon was up to the task, stopping all five shots on goal to secure the clean sheet.
UAB capped the night in the 76th minute when Tony Kim scored his second goal of the season, assisted by none other than Mabon, who turned defense into attack with a pinpoint setup from a punt.
Missouri State dominated possession (60%–40%) and corners (19–3) but couldn't break through against a disciplined UAB defense. The Bears were also shown three yellow cards in the closing stages.
With the win, UAB improved to 2-5-1 (1-2-0 AAC), while Missouri State fell to 3-3-2 (1-1-0 AAC).
