Tulsa Scores in 90th Minute to Beat Blazers

TULSA, Okla. - Tulsa edged the UAB men's soccer team in dramatic fashion Friday night, earning a 1–0 victory at Hurricane Soccer & Track Stadium.
After a tightly contested match with few clear chances, the breakthrough came in the 90th minute. Gijs Hovius buried his second goal of the season off a setup from Jake Reich and Jared Aguilar, giving the Golden Hurricanes (2-6-2, 1-3-0 AAC) their first conference win of the year.
Both teams finished with seven shots a piece, but Tulsa held the edge in accuracy with five on target compared to UAB's two. Blazers goalkeeper Tom Mabon made four saves to keep UAB in contention, while Tulsa's Carlito Saylon stopped two shots to record the shutout.
UAB (2-6-1, 1-3-0 AAC) had a late opportunity to equalize when Carson Brice fired wide in the closing seconds, but Tulsa's defense held strong to secure the result.
The match was physical throughout, with each side collecting three yellow cards. Tulsa controlled possession (58%–42%), helping them dictate the tempo in a tightly fought conference battle.
