BIRMINGHAM – UAB women's soccer had a player notch a weekly honor, as officials from the league office announced on Monday that Ava Mills earned honorable mention.
Mills played a role in the 1-1 draw at No. 9 Memphis last Thursday. The junior defender struck first in the 50th minute for her second goal of the season with an assist from Lailah Stewart. Mills is tied for third on the team with two goals this season.
The Tigers responded in the 72nd minute to even the match. The Blazers were outshot 16-3, but UAB defense, anchored by goalkeeper Leah Parsons with two saves, held strong to secure the result.
Up next, the Blazers return home to host UTSA on Thursday, September 25. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT.
