BIRMINGHAM – UAB women's soccer hosts Mississippi State on Sunday night at PNC Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT and will air live on ESPN+.
SERIES HISTORY
UAB leads the all-time series 4-2-0. Last time the Blazers faced the Bulldogs was Aug. 27, 2010, in Starkville, Miss., where UAB earned a 3-0 win.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE BLAZERS
The Green and Gold opened the season defeating Georgia State 4-2. Morgan Goehring, Emily Cole, Lailah Stewart and Avery Berryman each found the back of the net. Berryman, Vita Naihin and goalkeeper Leah Parsons all recorded assists.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Mississippi State defeated South Alabama 3-0 to open the season. Kati Anne Shepherd, Hailey Johnson and Reganne Morris all recorded goals for the Bulldogs. MSU brought in 19 new players while nine letterwinners returned with one being a starter.
GOAL SCORERS
UAB had four players score in the opening match to begin the 2026 campaign.
UAB brought in eight new players for the 2026 season, including six freshmen and two via the transfer portal.
RETURNING PRODUCTION
The Blazers top three goal scores from last season have all returned. Lailah Stewart who led the team with eight goals, Avery Berryman who scored five goals and Ava Mills who recorded four goals. Other players returning who scored goals are Lauren Lucero (2), Caitlin Keeling (2), Mia Leath (2), Lola Sommer (2) and Sydney Bolinger (1). In total, UAB has 19 players returning with 10 being starters.
