The Blazers got started in the top of the 2nd when John Paul Head singled to left with two strikes to score Andrew Hunt. Two batters later, Gavin Lewis Jr. reached on an infield single to score Camden Hayslip and put UAB up 2-0. On the next pitch, Logan Braunschweig singled to right to score Head and added to the Blazer advantage. Later, Todd Clay punched a two-strike single to right to score Lewis and Braunschweig and put the Green and Gold up 5-0. The Blazers' final run of the inning was on a sac fly to center by Andrew Hunt to cap off the six run, five hit inning.
The Tigers answered right back and then some. With one down, Carter McKay just barely cleared the right field wall for a two-run home run to cut the deficit to 6-2. Three batters later, Justin Fogel hit a 3-run home run to instantly cut the lead to 6-5. Later in the inning, Chase Nixon hit a two-strike 3-run home run to put the Tigers in front and capped off the eight run inning for Memphis.
UAB answered with a run in the top of the 3rd. Wesley Helms reached on a fielder's choice but the throw trickled away from first and Braunschweig scored to cut the Memphis lead to 8-7.
In the top of the 4th, Alex Cheeseman singled through the left side to score Camden Hayslip and tied the game at eight apiece.
The Tigers loaded the bases in the bottom of the 5th. Fogel grounded out to short for the second out, but Jack Pitts scored to give Memphis the lead 9-8.
9-hole hitter Creek Robertson singled through the left side with the bases loaded to plate two more Tigers and gave Memphis an 11-8 lead.
In the bottom half of the 7th, Shane Cox cleared the left field wall for a solo home run and extended the Tigers' lead to 12-8.
The Blazers threatened in the top of the 9th. With the bases loaded and nobody out, Tyler Harrington came up as the game-tying run and reached on the Tigers' fifth error of the day and plated two runs for the Blazers as the Memphis lead was cut to 12-10.
Brayden Sanders came in to close the game for Memphis in the 9th and struck out the final three batters he faced and the Tigers held on to win 12-10. Charlie Smith picked up the win going 5.1 innings in relief, striking out five and not allowing a walk.
