UAB Hosts Florida Atlantic in Final Weekend of Regular Season

BIRMINGHAM - UAB Baseball (23-28, 7-17) hosts Florida Atlantic (33-18, 13-11) at Young Memorial Field this weekend in a 3-game series beginning on Thursday. On Saturday, the Blazers will honor 11 seniors as Senior Day festivities are slated to begin at 11:35.

THE LAST TIME OUT
The Blazers were swept at Charlotte last weekend. Todd Clay and Camden Hayslip each homered twice. The Blazer offense averaged 6.3 runs per game in the 3-game series.
Last season, UAB took two out of three games against the Owls in Boca Raton. The Blazers won the Friday and Saturday games 12-1 and 15-0 but FAU won the Sunday finale by a score of 6-5.
SCOUTING THE OWLS
Florida Atlantic comes to Birmingham with a 34-18 record overall and a 13-11 record in American Conference play. Last weekend, the Owls dropped two of three games at home to South Florida. Sophomore southpaw Trey Beard currently leads the conference with a 2.61 ERA and holds a 7-0 record going into the final weekend of the regular season. FAU is currently second in the AAC in batting average (.293) and ERA (4.52).
SERIES HISTORY
Florida Atlantic leads the overall series, 19-15. The Owls also lead the series in Birmingham, 10-6.

Mayes White, Tyler Harrington, Tyler Waugh, Ty Mauldin, Logan Braunschweig, Thomas Ballard, Gavin Lewis Jr., Camden Hayslip, Cole Cheatham, Tyler Haines, and Brock Hill will be honored for their contributions to the program pregame on Saturday.

Fans are NOT PERMITTED to park in the lot behind the baseball press box as well as the first floor of the 12th Street parking deck. Parking in each lot can result in tickets or towing. Fans ARE PERMITTED to park in the Softball parking lot as well as the second, third, or fourth floor of the 12th Street parking deck.
AMERICAN CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT IMPLICATIONS
The Blazers come into the weekend needing a sweep against Florida Atlantic. UAB also needs a UTSA sweep over Rice as well as a Wichita State series win over Memphis in order to punch its ticket to Clearwater, Florida for the American Conference Baseball Tournament.
